The Star reports IGP saying plans are in store for billions worth of high tech equipment including hand-held computers, micro cameras fitted into walkie-talkies and greater use of forensic tools – these will be part of a massive plan to beef up the force. It should be easy to get the Nurin Alert going then Tuan IGP!

Good morning Farina, maybe it will take a while. Maybe as Rocky seems to think, the powers that be think bloggers are liars!! Hhhmm…that is why I hate politics, especially the kind that puts ulterior motives on all good intentions. My dear Princess, in your own quiet way you have made it known to us about the Amber Alert. It is the power and reach of the internet and bloggers that can get the message across. Is anyone listening? Well, who ever reads our blogs will at least give it a thought. The Amber Alert has been around for so many years, I’m sure the police must know about it. What they may not know is whether our society really needs it, how ready we are for it and how important it is to address the issues up front. I refuse to become cynical about it and am an eternal optimist. Hey, if you, being all that far away in the US, can be that concerned, I’m sure there are many more people out there equally worrried about the safety of their children and grandchildren. Will the politicians listen? They’d be really dumb not to. Take care over there!
I think you guys are going about the Amber Alert issue completely the wrong way . You have to put a price tag to it , say it costs 30 million to implement a NURIN ALERT system in our country.Then every politician in every ministry from Information to home affairs and even the agriculture ministry would want to get into the Amber Action.Got it ! if it’s free and tak menguntongkan … would they budge ?
Hi Jediraj, I am doomed to a life of eternal optimism. I had never been as angry about anything in my life before, that is until that most uncalled for statements from the IGP and the respective Ministers. It wasn’t because they were wrong but because their timing was very badly off. The man had just buried a beloved child earlier in the day. He had to finally come to grasp with the fact that it was indeed his child. They could have given it some time before issuing such a reminder to parents.
But I decided to do something about my anger and not harp about it. If I am doing this the wrong way, I am open to comment. It will not be me that can implement this system but the powers that be. Should I be cynical about this as you apparently seem to be, I think not. My gut feeling is we all know it’s the right thing to do. But whether we want to do something about it remains to be seen. The Amber Alert doesn’t just involve the Government but also the community, the media and the police. It is a matter of better coordination.
On that price tag bit, no comment. I hate politics, especially one that colours the sincerest intentions with ulterior motives. Hey, I gotta live my life too just the same as everyone else bro. You get what you give. Allah knows best!
