On my way back from Putrajaya this evening, Sharlinie stared at me from her poster on the toll booth. So distant, so sad and fast fading from our thoughts. I looked at her little face and my heart clenched as my already overwrought emotions kept wondering who has this child? Where is she? Who has her? What have they done to her? Why don’t they return her? She is just a skinny little girl with asthma that surely can’t be attractive to anyone in any indecent way. Her parents must be out of their minds with worry and so am I. Has she stopped calling out to us? So many children lost in the world, lives damaged and ruined forever. Why can’t we find one little girl? The world has to come together to fight this war against those who want to harm innocent children. The time has come to heed their call for help. No more Nurin Jazlins and Sharlinies! The world must come together as one for the children!

I had a thot abt Sharlinie that I smsed to Rocky while looking at my Maryam, 8 yrs old, sleeping after having 8 bouts of vomiting, and wondered how Nurin and Sharlinie must have felt, so sick, in pain, terrified, missing mummy and naked, their innocence shattered and they tak faham apa pun yg tgh berlaku to them. No meeting for C4NA la Tehsin and Mary Kate. Jasni sent an SMS saying it has been postponed until further notice. I was driving to Putrajaya for another meeting at the time and did not get a chance to reply to him even. He must have been too busy to email or I did not check my email.
It was Friday yesterday, the day Nurin was laid to rest. Since then I always feel melancholy for no explained reason. With my research on what;s happening in this child porn sting and that story about the 13-year-old that escaped the clutches of the human traffickers that appeared in Harian Metro, I realised with horror that the possibility of a link is even greater. I shudder at the thought. I had read about that other girl in Harian Metro online before Nuraina posted it but just could not bear to add another terrifying angle on my blog. What saddened and horrified me most was the girl’s father who told police that his daughter was not abducted. If the father had not found her, what would have happened to his child? She was duped and was in effect abducted but not by force possibly. I don’t understand what was going on with that story.
These kinds of cases have been reported before by NGOs that have been working for years to get Malaysia to adopt laws that protect women and children from human traffickers. How many more such cases are there, unreported by parents too embarassed to say their children are missing? Are they runaways or duped and abducted?
Nurin was to show us the extent of her suffering. The more our pain the greater the pleasure the perpetrators must feel. Nurin was no ordinary abduction and rape but a crime that was an intent to torture. Why??? Why those other little girls who escaped were also subjected to the same torture? Had this person seen things like this being done somewhere? He must have access to such things like DVDs, online child porn? Was he alone, was he filming what he did to her? Are those videos, if any, being made available in those networks the police are investigating? Are our police investigating this angle? All those thoughts went through my head. Not easy to relax when you have young children. Be vigilant at all times!
